女性也需要堅強

作為女性，我常常努力排除心底裡不自覺的性別歧視，重看昨天的博文，卻發現仍然把無私領導和力爭殊榮的情操連系男性 ... 這只是一種習慣（當然是要改的壞習慣！），時至今日，相信沒有人會反對女性只要有能力、有胸襟亦能成就非凡，對嗎？所以昨天提及的電影「不敗雄心」適合男孩子，其實也適合女孩子；還有以下的一段禱告，內容雖然只提及兒子，我認為也非常適合我兩個女兒：

Build me a son , O Lord ,
who will be strong enough to know when he is weak ,
and brave enough to face himself when he is afraid ;
one who will be proud and unbending in honest defeat ,
and humble and gentle in victory .

Build me a son whose wishes will not take the place of deeds ;
a son who will know Thee —
and that to know himself is the foundation stone of knowledge .

Lead him , I pray , not in the path of ease and comfort ,
but under the stress and spur of difficulties and challenge .
Here let him learn to stand up in the storm ;
here let him learn compassion for those who fail .

Build me a son whose heart will be clear ,
whose goal will be high ;
a son who will master himself before he seeks to master other men ;
one who will reach into the future , yet never forger the past .

And after all these things are his , add , I pray enough of a sense of humor,
so that he may always be serious , yet never take himself too seriously .
Give him humility , so that he may always rememder the simplicity of true greatness ,
the open mind of true wisdom ,
and the meekness of true strength .

Then I , his father , will dare to whisper , ＂I have not lived in vain .＂

主啊，懇請為我培養這樣一個兒子：
他能夠堅強地面對自己的軟弱；
勇敢地對待自己的恐懼；
誠實受挫時能夠自豪不屈；
勝利中謙遜溫情。

懇請為我培養一個不以願望代替行動的兒子。
使他能夠感知您的至聖。
使他瞭解自己是一切知識的基石。

懇請不要把他引入貪圖安逸、舒適的歧途，
使他能夠在困難及挑戰的壓力下奮勇前進。

懇請為我培養一個心地清明、目標高遠的兒子，
使他成為一個能以責人之心責己的人，

除此之外，還請求您賜予他一點幽默感，
憑著這點幽默感，
讓他瞭解真正的偉大是平凡，
真正的智慧是寬廣的心胸，
真正的力量是柔和。

那麼，作他父親的我，才會感到：「我這輩子沒有白活。」
